Spicy Cherry Sauce

Ingredients
  Pitted tart red cherries 20 Ounce
  Whole cloves 2
  Cinnamon stick 2 Inch
  Sugar 4 Teaspoon
  Cornstarch 4 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Cold water 4 Teaspoon
  Corn syrup 3 1⁄2 Tablespoon
  Butter/Margarine 4 Teaspoon
  Lemon juice 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Almond extract 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Red food coloring 1 Drop
Directions

Combine cherries, cloves, and stick cinnamon in a covered saucepan.
Cook 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and discard spices.
Force cherries through a sieve or food mill into a saucepan.
Combine the sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a small bowl.
Blend in the water and corn syrup and stir into the hot cherry mixture.
Bring rapidly to boiling; cook and stir about 3 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in the remaining ingredients.
Serve hot with steamed puddings.
