  Canned white asparagus 29 Ounce (Two 14.5 Ounce Cans)
  Butter/Margarine 2 Tablespoon
  Flour 2 Tablespoon
  Liquid 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (Reserved From The Asparagus Can)
  Milk 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Cooked ham 4 Ounce, cut into julienne strips (Use Lean Variety)
  Ground nutmeg 1⁄8 Teaspoon (Use Freshly Ground If Possible)
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon

Drain asparagus; reserve 1/2 cup liquid.
Heat butter in saucepan.
Add flour; blend.
Gradually pour in asparagus liquid and milk; stir constantly over low heat until sauce thickens and bubbles.
Add ham and seasonings.
Gently stir in asparagus; heat through, do not boil
