White Asparagus In Ham Sauce
|Canned white asparagus||29 Ounce (Two 14.5 Ounce Cans)|
|Liquid||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (Reserved From The Asparagus Can)|
|Milk||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Cooked ham||4 Ounce, cut into julienne strips (Use Lean Variety)|
|Ground nutmeg||1⁄8 Teaspoon (Use Freshly Ground If Possible)|
Drain asparagus; reserve 1/2 cup liquid.
Heat butter in saucepan.
Add flour; blend.
Gradually pour in asparagus liquid and milk; stir constantly over low heat until sauce thickens and bubbles.
Add ham and seasonings.
Gently stir in asparagus; heat through, do not boil
