In small saucepan combine 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar with 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon unsalted margarine; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until melted.
Gradually stir in 2 tablespoons evaporated skimmed milk and cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is thick and syrupy, about 1 minute.

'This is simple and spectacular....who the heck needs heavy cream. Thank you so much. We poured the sauce over vanilla ice cream, chopped apples and almonds. Yummy.
