Fruit Base For Upside Down Cake
|Honey||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Butter||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Nut halves||2 Tablespoon|
Put honey and butter in a heavy medium-sized iron skillet and let slowly melt on top of stove.
Core the unpeeled apples, and cut them crosswise into ring slices 3/4 of an inch thick, preparing enough slices to cover bottom of skillet well.
Add the apple rings to honey and butter and simmer until apples are partly cooked, turning once.
Place a maraschino cherry in center of each apple ring, and nut meat halves (pecans) in the spaces around the apples.
