Blushing Pears In Chocolate Sauce
|Firm pears||1 1⁄2 Pound (4 Medium Sized)|
|Unsweetened orange juice||2 Tablespoon|
|Blush wine||3 Cup (48 tbs)|
|Cranberry raspberry juice cocktail||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Powdered sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Unsweetened cocoa||1 1⁄3 Tablespoon (1 Tablespoon Plus 1 Teaspoon)|
|Water||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Vanilla extract||1 Teaspoon|
Peel pears; remove core from bottom end, leaving stem end intact.
Slice 1/4 inch from base of pears to sit flat.
Brush with orange juice.
Combine wine and cranberry-raspberry juice in a large saucepan; bring to a boil.
Place pears, stem end up, in pan.
Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 15 minutes or just until pears are tender.
Remove pears from liquid with a slotted spoon.
Meanwhile, combine sugar, cocoa, and cornstarch in a saucepan.
Gradually add water; stir until smooth.
Cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat until slightly thickened.
Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.
Spoon 1 tablespoon chocolate sauce onto each of 4 dessert plates; place pears on sauce.
Drizzle 1 tablespoon sauce over each pear.
