Wheat Waffles with Apple Sauce
|Apples||4 Large, diced|
|Cinnamon powder||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Apple juice||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Whole-wheat flour||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (Atta)|
|Plain flour||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs) (Maida)|
|Baking powder/1 teaspoon sodium bicarbonate||2 Teaspoon|
|Buttermilk||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs) (Chhaas)|
Heat oil in a large pan over moderate heat.
Add apples and saute for about 10 minutes till honey-coloured.
Add cinnamon and apple juice and cook for about 3 minutes till thick.
Cover and keep warm.
Sift dry ingredients for waffles into a large bowl.
Add honey and buttermilk and mix well.
Beat egg whites till stiff but not dry and fold into batter.
Pour into a waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer's instruction till golden brown.
Serve hot waffles with warm apple sauce.
