Chili Sauce Beef Pot Roast

Ingredients
  Beef 3 Pound (For Pot Roast)
  Shortening 1 Tablespoon
  Water 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Onions 3 , sliced
  Chili sauce 12 Ounce (1 Bottle)
  Dill pickles 2 , chopped
  Salt To Taste
  Pepper To Taste
Directions

Brown meat in shortening in kettle.
Add salt and pepper.
Put a rack in kettle under meat; add water and onions.
Simmer, covered, for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
Add chili sauce and pickles and simmer for 1 hour longer, or until meat is tender.
