Basic Brown Sauce
|Tomato puree||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Water||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Instant beef broth and seasoning mix||2 Ounce (2 Packets, 1 Ounce Each)|
|Dehydrated onion flakes||2 Teaspoon, reconstituted in 2 teaspoon water|
|Water||2 Teaspoon (For Reconstituting Dehydrated Onion Flakes)|
|Browning sauce||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Bay leaf||1 Small|
|Garlic powder||1 Dash|
Melt margarine in top of double boiler, over boiling water; using a wooden spoon or wire whisk, add flour, and cook 7 minutes, stirring frequently.
Stir in tomato puree.
Slowly add water, stirring constantly.
Add remaining ingredients; cover and cook 30 minutes or until thickened, stirring often.
