Spiced Bread Sauce

Ingredients
  Milk 1 Pint (600 Milliliter)
  Onion 1 , peeled and studded with 4 cloves
  Cloves 4 (For Studding Onion)
  Bay leaves 2
  Grated nutmeg 1 Pinch
  Ground mace 1 Pinch
  Stale white bread crumbs 6 Ounce (175 Gram)
  Butter/Margarine 2 Ounce (50 Gram)
  Freshly ground black pepper To Taste
  Salt To Taste
  Bay leaves 2 (To Garnish)
Directions

Place milk, onion, bay leaves, nutmeg and mace in a pan.
Bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 30 mins.
Remove from heat, cool.
Strain, return to a clean pan and stir in breadcrumbs, fat and seasoning.
Cook over a low heat for 15 mins, stirring occasionally, until thick.
Garnish to serve.
