Toffee Walnut Sauce
|Packed light brown sugar||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Instant coffee powder/Crystals||1 Tablespoon|
|Water||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sweetened condensed milk||1 Can (10 oz) (Not Evaporated)|
|Walnuts||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), chopped|
1. Combine brown sugar, instant coffee, salt and water in a small, heavy saucepan; heat, stirring constantly, to boiling, then cook, without stirring, to 230° on a candy thermometer. (A little syrup spins fine threads when dropped from the tip of a spoon.) Remove from heat.
2. Blend hot syrup very slowly into sweetened condensed milk in a medium-size bowl; stir in walnuts and vanilla.
