Tropical Sundae Sauce

Ingredients
  Canned pineapple tidbits 8 3⁄4 Ounce (1 Can)
  Sugar 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Lemon juice 1 1⁄2 Tablespoon
  Peppermint extract 3 Drop
  Oranges 2 Medium, peeled, sectioned, and seeded
  Green maraschino cherries 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), halved
Directions

Drain pineapple, reserving syrup; add enough water to syrup to make 1/2 cup.
Cook sugar and syrup over low heat till thickened, about 12 minutes.
Add lemon juice and extract; chill.
Before serving, add fruits.
