Mom'S Butterscotch Sauce

|Cane syrup/Golden syrup||2 Ounce|
|Soft brown sugar||8 Ounce|
|Single cream||1⁄2 Pint|
|Lemon juice||2 Tablespoon|
Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the syrup and sugar and heat slowly, stirring until dissolved. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Bring to the boil. Keep at a 'rolling boil' for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Allow to cool. Serve warm.
