Apple Ball Sauce For Suckling

|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Grated lemon rind||1⁄2|
|Water||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Apple balls||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Red vegetable coloring||5 Drop|
Make a syrup of sugar and water, adding lemon rind, red coloring, and cloves.
Cook for several minutes, strain out rind and cloves, and drop in the apples which have been cut with a potato ball cutter.
Cook until apples are clear and tender
