Tuna Steaks With Pineapple Sauce
|Red onion||1 Small|
|Canned crushed pineapple in juice||8 Ounce (1 Can)|
|Garlic||3 Clove (15 gm), minced|
|Chopped scallion tops||2 Tablespoon|
|Brown sugar||1 Teaspoon|
|Hot pepper flakes||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Ground red pepper||1 Pinch|
|Tuna steaks||1 1⁄2 Pound (2 Large, 1 Inch Thick)|
1. Coarsely chop the onion.
2. In a medium-size saucepan, combine the chopped onion, the pineapple and its juice, the garlic, ketchup, scallion greens, cornstarch, sugar, salt, hot pepper flakes and ground red pepper. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Cook, uncovered, 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, uncovered, until thickened, about 10 minutes.
4. Meanwhile, preheat the broiler. Line a broiler pan with foil and lightly spray with nonstick cooking spray.
5. Cut the tuna steaks in half to make 4 portions. Place the tuna steaks on the broiler pan. Top each steak with one-fourth of the pineapple sauce and broil 4 inches from the heat 12 minutes, or until the fish just flakes when tested with the tip of a knife.
