Red Cherry Sauce

Ingredients
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Cornstarch 1 1⁄4 Tablespoon
  Salt 1 Dash
  Tart red cherries 1 Pound (pitted, with juice (water pack), canned)
Directions

In saucepan combine sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
Stir in cherries with juice.
Cook, stirring constantly, till thick and clear.
Reduce heat; simmer 10 minutes.
If desired, add few drops red food coloring.
