Easy Meat Sauce
|Lean ground beef||1 Pound|
|Onion||1 Medium, chopped|
|Canned diced peeled tomatoes||28 Ounce (1 Can)|
|Canned tomato paste||12 Ounce (1 Can)|
|Dry red wine||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Carrots||6 , peeled and diced|
|Garlic||2 Clove (10 gm), crushed through a press|
|Dried basil||2 Tablespoon|
|Worcestershire sauce||1 Tablespoon|
|Freshly ground pepper||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
1. In a large skillet on top of the stove, cook the beef and onion over medium-high heat, stirring often, until the beef is browned, 6 to 8 minutes. Drain off excess fat.
2. Transfer the beef and onion to a 3 1/2-quart electric slow cooker. Stir in the tomatoes with their liquid, tomato paste, wine, carrots, garlic, dried basil, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
3. Cover and cook on the low heat setting 5 to 6 hours.
