White Sauce

  Butter/Margarine 1⁄8 Pound (About 1/4 Cup)
  Nutmeg 1 Dash
  All purpose flour 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Milk 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Salt To Taste
  Pepper To Taste

In a saucepan, melt butter and stir in flour until well blended and bubbly (do not let butter brown).
Remove from heat.
Gradually stir in milk.
Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is thickened and smooth.
Add salt, pepper, and nutmeg to taste. (If you don't want to risk lumping, cook the mixture in a double boiler.
Less stirring and attention is necessary.)
