Traditional Custard Sauce

|Egg/2 egg yolks, slightly beaten||1 (Whole)|
|Milk||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs), scalded|
|Vanilla/Other flavorings such as nutmeg / sherry / rum||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
Blend egg, milk, sugar, and salt in the top of a double boiler.
Cook, stirring constantly, over hot water until the custard coats a metal spoon.
Remove from heat and flavor with vanilla or other flavoring.
