Peach Halves With Raspberry Sauce

|Sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Fresh peaches||6 Large, peeled, halved and pitted|
|Fresh raspberries||1 Pint, washed and hulled|
|Grated lemon rind||1 Teaspoon|
|Sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Water||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
In a large, heat-resistant, non-metallic bowl, combine 1 cup water and 1/2 cup of sugar.
Heat, covered, on full power 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add peach halves and heat, covered, on full power an additional 4 minutes, basting peaches frequently.
In a medium-sized, heat-resistant, non-metallic bowl, combine remaining ingredients.
Heat, covered, on full power 3 minutes or until berries are soft.
