|Vegetable shortening||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Flour||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Milk||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
Melt vegetable shortening in saucepan; stir in flour.
Add milk and salt all at once; cook and stir over low heat until thickened.
Makes 2 cups medium sauce.
Thin White Sauce: decrease vegetable shortening and flour to 2 tablespoons each; proceed as above.
Add 1 cup shredded cheese to prepared sauce and stir until melted.
