Hearty Sausage Sandwich's picture
  Bulk italian sausage 1 Pound
  Onion 1 Medium, chopped
  Chopped green pepper 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Garlic 1 Clove (5 gm), minced
  Cream cheese 8 Ounce, cubed (1 Package)
  Chopped mushrooms 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Parmesan cheese 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs), grated
  Water 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Dried oregano 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Italian bread loaf 1 (Unsliced)
  Shredded part skim mozzarella cheese 6 Ounce (1 1/2 Cup)

In a large skillet, cook sausage, onion, pepper and garlic over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink; drain.
Add cream cheese, mushrooms, Parmesan, water and oregano.
Cook and stir until cheese is melted.
Cut bread in half horizontally; hollow out the top and bottom, leaving a 3/ (save removed bread for another use).
Place the bread bottom on a baking sheet.
Sprinkle with half of the mozzarella cheese; top with sausage mixture and remaining cheese.
Replace the bread top.
Bake at 3750 for 15 minutes or until cheese is melted.
