Grilled Tuna Salad

 

Grilled Tuna salad is a variant of the traditional fish salad prepared with grilled tuna pieces. The salad is a combination of mayonnaise and the fish which is served on a bed of lettuce along with onion, celery and sliced hard-boiled eggs. A relish is occasionally added to the salad dish as well.

 

The grilled variety of the tuna salad is often prepared at home, it also features on a restaurant menu and it cannot be bought in pre-packaged cans as opposed to the traditional tuna salad. Tomatoes, avocadoes, and dill are also common food items added to the salad while serving it.

 

The salad is usually served as an entrée or a side dish and can even be a standalone dish for weight watchers. The homemade version is frequently assembled by replacing the hard-boiled eggs with a sweet relish or other condiments.   • Healthy Grilled Tuna Salad- This salad consists of organic greens added to the grilled tuna steaks along with longitudinal slices of carrots, chopped tomatoes and onion halves tossed together. A blend of rice wine vinegar and olive oil serves as the dressing with hot chili sauce being added to make it spicy.
     
  • Grilled Tuna Salade Niçoise-This is a variant of the traditional Nicose salad prepared with grilled tuna steaks and large Yukon potatoes along with haricot beans, capers, cherry tomatoes and brine cured black olives. The Nicose dressing is added before serving the salad which is garnished with fresh basil and parsley.

The fish salad usually goes well with starchy foods, rich in carbohydrates. Some of the acceptable ways of serving it includes:-

  • A noodle salad prepared with a spicy peanut-based sauce.
  • A side serving of black peas, couscous and boiled red potatoes.
  • Parmesan cheese and sage filled polenta cakes.
