Pickled Herring And Apple Salad

Ingredients
  Pickled herring 2 Large
  Milk 2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)
  Sweet dill pickle 1
  Celery stalks 3
  Tart dessert apple 2
  Onion 1 Small
  Wine vinegar 3 Tablespoon
  Oil 5 Tablespoon
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Paprika pepper 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Prepared mustard 1 Teaspoon
  Cream 3 Tablespoon
  Head of lettuce 1
Directions

Soak the herrings in the milk for 2 hours, then drain and cut into thin strips.
Cut the pickle into thin strips.
Trim the celery, then cut into thin strips.
Peel and core the apples and cut into thin strips.
Peel and finely chop the onion.
Mix together the vinegar, oil, salt, paprika, mustard and cream.
Add the herrings, pickle, celery, apples and onion and toss together well.
Chill for 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, separate the lettuce into leaves and wash under cold running water.
Shake off excess water, then pat dry with a dish towel.
Use the lettuce leaves to line four glass dishes.
Spoon in the salad and serve.
