Layered Pear Salad

Ingredients
  Canned pear halves 16 Ounce (1 Can)
  Cold water 1 Tablespoon
  Lemon-flavored gelatin 3 Ounce, flavored (1 Package)
  Boiling water 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Vinegar 1 Teaspoon
  Cream cheese 3 Ounce, softened (1 Package)
  Ground ginger 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Walnut halves/Pecan halves 12
Directions

Drain pears, reserving syrup; add enough cold water to syrup to make 1 cup liquid.
Chop pears; set aside.
Dissolve gelatin in boiling water; stir in reserved pear liquid.
Measure 2/3 cup of the gelatin mixture; set remainder aside.
To the 2/3 cup gelatin, add vinegar; pour into a 4-cup mold.
Chill till almost firm.
Meanwhile, beat cream cheese and ginger till fluffy; stir in remaining gelatin mixture.
Chill mixture till partially set (consistency of unbeaten egg whites).
Fold pears into cream cheese mixture.
Arrange nuts upside-down on gelatin in mold; spoon pear mixture atop.
Chill till firm; unmold.
