Peppy Beet Salad

Ingredients
  Canned sliced beets/Canned diced beets 1 Pound (1 Can / 2 Cups)
  Vinegar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Cloves 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Allspice 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Cinnamon 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Pickle relish 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Chopped onion 2 Tablespoon
Directions

Drain beets, reserving liquid.
Add enough water to the liquid to make 1 cup; add vinegar and spices; bring to a boil.
Add beets: remove from heat.
Chill beets in liquid.
Drain; add relish and onion; mix well.
Top with onion rings.
