Wilted Cabbage Salad

Ingredients
  Bacon slices 3
  Onion 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs), chopped
  Vinegar 2 Tablespoon
  Water 2 Tablespoon
  Sugar 1 Tablespoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Pepper 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Cabbage head 1 Small, shredded
  Apples 1 , finely chopped (cored, peeled)
Directions

In skillet cook bacon till crisp; drain, reserving 3 tablespoons drippings.
Set bacon aside.
Add onion to drippings and cook till tender.
Stir in vinegar, water, sugar, salt, and pepper; bring to boiling.
Add cabbage and apple; toss to coat.
Cover and cook over medium heat about 5 minutes or till cabbage is just wilted.
Crumble bacon over top and serve.
