Wilted Lettuce Salad

Wilted Lettuce Salad is one of my most popular salads. I prepared the Wilted Lettuce Salad for an important dinner party last week and it was a complete success! Try this wonderful Wilted Lettuce Salad recipe for yourself.
  Round lettuce 1 , outer leaves removed, washed and shaken dry
  Streaky bacon slice 6 , chopped
  White wine vinegar 2 Fluid Ounce
  Sugar 1 Teaspoon
  Black pepper 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Spring onion 6 , trimmed and chopped

Tear the lettuce leaves into medium sized pieces and place them in a large bowl.
In a frying pan, fry the bacon over moderate heat for 6 to 8 minutes or until the bacon is crisp.
Scrape the bottom of the pan frequently to prevent the bacon from sticking.
Using a slotted spoon, remove the bacon from the pan and drain it on kitchen paper towels.
Stir the vinegar, sugar, pepper and spring onions [scallions] into the frying pan.
Bring the liquid to the boil.
Remove the pan from the heat and pour the contents over the lettuce.
Toss the salad to coat it with the dressing.
Sprinkle over the bacon and serve.
