Brisket Rub

Brisket rub is a mixture of spices, herbs – fresh or dried and seasoning that is used to flavor the brisket cut of beef. The rub is applied on the brisket before cooking it.

A brisket rub may include herbs like oregano, thyme, garlic and spices like pepper, chili, and cumin. Seasonings like salt and sugar are also added. Sugar helps to caramelize the meat and salt brings out the flavor. A wet rub may have some oil or vinegar in it. The rub can be made at home and stored in an air tight jar for future use.
