|White sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Egg||1 , beaten|
|Lukewarm water||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Sifted all purpose flour||3 Cup (48 tbs)|
Dissolve yeast cake in 1/2 cup lukewarm water.
Cream shortening, add sugar, salt and egg.
Stir in dissolved yeast cake and the cup of lukewarm water.
Stir in the flour.
Let rise in warm place until doubled in bulk.
Knead and shape in rolls and let rise until double bulk again.
Bake at 350F.
If coffee roll is desired take part of dough, spread butter, honey and cinnamon over rolled dough, roll and twist.
Either cut in rolls or coffee ring shape.
If nut bread is desired, add raisins, nuts, cherries to bread dough and let rise as usual.
