Rolls

This homemade rolls recipe is quite versatile and can be fashined any way desired. Prepared with a batter of eggs, sugar, butter and flour, the rolls can be made richer with added ingredients of choice. leavened with yeast, the rolls are baked and cut in rings or slices to serve.
Ingredients
  Cake yeast 1
  Shortening/Butter 3 Tablespoon
  White sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Egg 1 , beaten
  Lukewarm water 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Sifted all purpose flour 3 Cup (48 tbs)
Directions

Dissolve yeast cake in 1/2 cup lukewarm water.
Cream shortening, add sugar, salt and egg.
Stir in dissolved yeast cake and the cup of lukewarm water.
Stir in the flour.
Let rise in warm place until doubled in bulk.
Knead and shape in rolls and let rise until double bulk again.
Bake at 350F.
If coffee roll is desired take part of dough, spread butter, honey and cinnamon over rolled dough, roll and twist.
Either cut in rolls or coffee ring shape.
If nut bread is desired, add raisins, nuts, cherries to bread dough and let rise as usual.
