Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water; add milk, sugar, salt, eggs, shortening and half the flour.
Mix until smooth; add enough remaining flour to make easily handled dough.
Turn onto lightly floured board; knead until smooth.
Place in greased bowl, turning to grease top.
Cover; let rise in warm place for about 1 hour and 30 minutes or until doubled in bulk.
Punch down; let rise for about 30 minutes.
Form into desired shapes; place on baking sheet.
Bake at 400 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
