|Molasses||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Shortening||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sifted cake flour||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Granulated sugar||2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)|
Heat molasses to the boiling point.
Add the shortening and stir well.
Sift together the dry ingredients and add slowly to the first mixture, stirring constantly.
Drop by teaspoonfuls about 3" to 4" apart on greased or oiled cookie sheets.
Bake in a moderate oven of 350ºF until the cookies are golden brown (about 8-10 min.).
Allow the cookies to cool only slightly, then remove each one with a wide spatula and wrap quickly around the handle of a wooden spoon into a roll.
If cookies cool too much for rolling, return to oven for a minute or two to soften.
