Sourdough Cheese Rolls

Ingredients
  Active dry yeast 1 (1 Package)
  Warm water 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs) (110 To 115 Degrees Fahrenheit)
  All purpose flour 4 1⁄2 Cup (72 tbs)
  Sourdough starter 1 Cup (16 tbs) (At Room Temperature)
  Sugar 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Butter/Margarine 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs), softened
  Egg 1
  Salt 2 Teaspoon
  Baking soda 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Shredded sharp cheddar cheese 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
Directions

In large mixer bowl soften yeast in warm water.
Stir in 2 cups of the flour, the Sourdough Starter, sugar, softened butter, egg, and salt.
Beat 3 to 4 minutes with electric mixer.
Combine 1 cup of the flour and the baking soda; stir into flour-yeast mix-ture.
Stir in cheese and as much of the remaining flour as you can mix in using a spoon.
Turn out onto a lightly floured surface.
Knead in enough of the remaining flour to make a soft dough.
Continue kneading till smooth and elastic (5 to 8 minutes).
Place in greased bowl; turn once.
Cover; let rise in warm place till double (1 1/2 to 2 hours).
Punch down; turn out onto floured surface.
Cover; let rest 10 minutes.
Divide into 24 pieces; shape into balls.
Place on greased baking sheets.
Cover; let rise in warm place till double (25 to 30 minutes).
Bake at 375° about 20 minutes.
