Red Rice

Red rice has many definitions. Some consider ‘red rice’ as unhulled rice with red husk. It is also referred as rice with less grain and considered as weed. In Japan and China, red rice is referred to as ‘red yeast rice’. However, red rice is high in nutrition and can be cooked as other regular varieties of rice. Due to its hull, this variety of rice has a nutty texture. While cooking the red husk leaves color and the rice dish absorbs a pink color. Red rice is mainly grown in South America, Southeast Asia and Europe.
