Black Bean Rice

Black bean rice or black bean and rice is a delicious Latin American and Caribbean dish. Black beans containing adequate proteins and minerals are valued for their food value and are served as a main course dish. Black beans and rice may be prepared by using a crockpot, skillet, pressure cooker, or a regular oven. The beans are washed, soaked and boiled till tender. Onions, shallots, garlic, oregano and red or green bell pepper seasonings are sautéed in some olive oil and simmered with black beans. Rice is cooked separately. Black bean rice involves serving the cooked black beans with the rice separately.
