Savory Wild Rice Manitoba

Ingredients
  Wild rice 6 Ounce (175 Gram / 0.75 Cup)
  Water 1 1⁄4 Pint (750 Milliliter / 3 Cups)
  Butter 2 Ounce (50 Gram / 0.25 Cup)
  Onions 2 , chopped
  Seedless raisins 1⁄4 Pound (100 Gram / 2/3 Cup)
  Flaked almonds 3 Ounce (75 Gram / 0.5 Cup)
  Cinnamon 1 Pinch
  Salt To Taste
  Pepper To Taste
Directions

1 Soak the wild rice overnight, 2 Bring the water to the boil in a saucepan, season and add the wild rice.
Boil gently for 40 minutes until tender.
3 Meanwhile,heat the butter in a frying pan (skillet) and shallow- fry the onions until golden.
Add the raisins, flaked almonds, cin- namon and season with salt and pepper.
4 Add the strained, cooked wild rice and heat through.
Serve with game.
Tip: Wild rice can be mixed with a variety of vegetables such as cooked peas, corn kernels, lentils and beans.
Try mixing in some chopped cooked meat or poultry.
They can be stir-fried in oil or but- ter and served as a savoury first course or as an accompaniment to game.
