Green Pea Rice

Ingredients
  Tender green peas 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Short grain rice 2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)
  Kelp pieces 1 (Konbu, 6 Inch)
  Sake 2 Tablespoon
  Salt 2 Teaspoon
Directions

1. Wash rice 1 hour before boiling. Lightly wipe both sides of kelp with a damp cloth and make 1/2-inch (1 1/2-cm) cuts with scissors at 1-inch (2 1/2 -cm) intervals. Drain rice, then soak in proper amount of cooking water with kelp for 30 to 60 minutes.
2. In a medium-sized heavy saucepan combine rice, cooking water, and remaining ingredients. Cover and bring to a boil over high heat. Remove kelp, replace lid, and continue boiling for 30 seconds. Reduce heat to low and boil in same manner as plain rice.
3. Without removing lid, wait 10 to 15 minutes before serving. Fluff rice and serve in a large bowl.
