Ingredients
  Raisins 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Water 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Shortening 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  White sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Brown sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Eggs 3
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  Flour 4 Cup (64 tbs)
  Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
  Baking soda 1 Teaspoon
  Salt 2 Teaspoon
  Cinnamon 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Nutmeg 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Allspice 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Nuts 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped
Directions

Boil raisins and water for 5 minutes - set aside to cool.
Cream shortening and sugars, add eggs and beat well.
Add vanilla and cooled raisin mixture.
Add dry ingredients, which have been sifted together, and blend well.
Add nuts, if desired.
Drop on greased pans.
Bake for 15 minutes at 375°.
