Ingredients
  Brown sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), firmly packed
  Granulated sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Boiling water 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Butter 1 Tablespoon
  Cinnamon 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Raisins 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs) (Use Moist Variety)
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  Granulated sugar 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
  All purpose flour 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
  Milk 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
  Chopped nutmeats 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
  Cream 1 Tablespoon
Directions

Mix first 7 ingredients in saucepan and boil to a medium syrup (about 15 minutes) ; remove from heat and add vanilla.
Meanwhile prepare drop batter as follows: cream butter, add the 1/3 cup of sugar, and mix until blended.
Sift flour, measure, and resift 3 times with baking powder and salt.
Add to sugar-butter mixture and combine well.
Add milk all at once and stir until dry ingredients are thoroughly blended.
Drop batter from tablespoon into a well-greased baking pan (7 x 11 x 1 1/2 inches), and pour the raisin syrup over it.
Sprinkle with nuts and bake in a moderate oven (350° F.) for about 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serve warm or cold with cream.
