Giant Sugar Cookies With Raisin Polka Dots
|Shortening||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Granulated sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Brown sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Egg yolks/1 egg||2|
|All purpose flour||2 2⁄3 Cup (42.67 tbs), sifted|
|Cream of tartar||2 Teaspoon|
Thoroughly cream shortening and sugars.
Add egg yolks, milk, and vanilla; beat well.
Sift together dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture.
Chill dough 1 hour.
On well floured pastry cloth, roll the dough to 1/8 inch.
Cut with a 4 inch round cutter (or use canister lid).
Place several raisins atop each cooky, and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
Bake 1 inch apart on ungreased cooky sheet in moderate oven (350°) 6 to 8 minutes.
