Punch is a general term used for a wide variety of mixed drinks with different fruit juices and can be alcoholic or non-alcoholic. Usually rum is the most commonly used ingredients in alcoholic punch. The punch is actually Indian in origin and was introduced in England in the early seventeenth century. The original punch contained alcohol, sugar, lemon juice, water and tea or spices. The modern punch is made from a variety of fruit juices mixed together in different combination in different recipes along with sugar and water and sometimes alcohol. Punch is generally served at parties in a large punch bowl.
