Jefferson County Punch

Ingredients
  Sugar 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Water 2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)
  Lemon juice 2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)
  Dark rum 25 3⁄5 Ounce
  Sauterne 25 3⁄5 Ounce, chilled
  Applejack brandy 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Champagne 25 1⁄2 Ounce, chilled (One 25.4 Ounce Bottle)
  Club soda 33 4⁄5 Ounce, chilled (One 33.8 Ounce Bottle)
Directions

Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan.
Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes.
Chill.
Add lemon juice, rum, sauterne, and brandy to sugar mixture.
Chill until ready to serve.
Pour punch into a chilled punch bowl.
Add champagne and club soda, serve immediately (may be served over ice, if desired).
