Moselle Punch

Ingredients
  Fine granulated sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Ice block 1 Large
  Moselle wine/Other dry white wine 1 1⁄2 Liter (2 Bottles)
  Champagne 2 1⁄4 Liter, chilled (3 Bottles)
  Oranges 6 , very thinly sliced
Directions

1. Place the orange slices in a bowl and sprinkle with sugar. Pour one bottle of the Moselle over the fruit and let stand one hour or longer.
2. Pour the mixture over the block of ice in a punch bowl. Add the remaining Moselle and the champagne.
