Mix the sugar and water, and add the cardamom pods.
Soak the pumpkin in water for a while.
Heat the ghee in a thick, heavy pan; put in the pumpkin and reduce the fire.
Keep stirring and mashing the pumpkin.
When it begins to stick, add milk and from time to time keep stirring and mashing it.
When the milk dries, add the sugar syrup and keep on stirring till it becomes soft.
Remove the surplus ghee with a spoon.
