Spicy Fruit Puffs

Ingredients
  Sifted all purpose flour 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Baking powder 3 Teaspoon
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Ground cinnamon 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Ground nutmeg 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Shredded pared apple 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Brown sugar 2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)
  Chopped california walnuts 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Eggs 2 , beaten
  Milk 2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)
  Shortening 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs), melted and cooled
  Whole wheat/Bran flakes 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Directions

Sift together first 5 ingredients.
Stir in apple, brown sugar, and walnuts.
Combine eggs, milk, and shortening; add all at once, stirring just to blend.
Fold in cereal flakes.
Fill greased muffin pans 2/3, full.
Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes.
