Baked Pudding

 

Baked pudding is a type of pudding dessert which is made by baking directly or using a bain marie. Bread and butter pudding, coconut bread pudding, cottage pudding, persimmon pudding are a few examples of baked puddings. They generally have a crispy crust with a moist center. They can be layered or without layers .

 

 

Types of Baked Puddings

 

·         Bread and butter pudding is made by layering buttered bread with raisins, sultanas and nuts. It is then soaked in a custard like mixture and baked in the oven till top becomes brown and crispy. Bread slices, butter, eggs and milk are the main ingredients for making this pudding. It is baked at 180 degrees C for about 30 minutes.

·         Persimmon pudding is made using persimmon pulp, eggs, flour and sugar. A smooth batter is made and baked in the oven. It has a cake-like texture.

·         Sago pudding is an Asian dessert made by cooking sago pearls, milk and eggs together. It is then baked directly in the oven or by using a bain marie.

·         Baked rice pudding is made all over the world by cooking rice, sugar, milk and nutmeg together till thick. Eggs are whisked in and then it is poured in a baking dish and baked in the oven at 180 degrees C for about 35 minutes.

·         Cottage pudding is made using eggs, milk and flour. A cake like batter is made and baked to make a cake like pudding. It is served topped with vanilla sauce.

·         Caramel pudding is made by pouring a caramel sauce at the base of the baking dish and then topping with a custard mixture and then baking using a bain marie.

·         Baked pudding is served with topping dessert sauces.

·         It is also topped with ice cream, whipped cream, crème anglaise or jams and preserves.
