Cottage Pudding

Ingredients
  Shortening 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Flour 2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs)
  Sugar 2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)
  Baking powder 4 Teaspoon
  Egg 1 , well-beaten
  Milk 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
Directions

Cream the shortening, add sugar and vanilla, then well-beaten egg.
Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt and add alternately with milk to first mixture.
Turn into a greased cake pan.
Bake in a slow oven of 350° F. for 45 min. or pour into greased individual molds and steam 1 hr.
Serve with Lemon, or Chocolate Sauce
