Ingredients
  Shortening 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Flour 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Brown sugar 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Soda 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Egg 1 , well-beaten
  Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
  Sour milk 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Molasses 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Cinnamon 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Ginger 1 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
Directions

Mix and bake or steam, sifting spices with flour.
Combine sour milk and molasses, and add alternately with flour and spices.
