|Soft shortening||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sugar||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|Sifted all purpose flour||2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs)|
|Milk||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
Grease the bottom of a 9-inch square pan, and line with greased waxed paper.
Beat shortening, vanilla and sugar together until light.
Add the egg, and beat until fluffy.
Sift dry ingredients together, and add alternately with the milk to the shortening mixture.
Scrape into prepared pan, and bake at 350Ã‚Â°F. about 45 minutes.
Cool 5 minutes, and invert pan.
Peel off paper; cut into squares.
Serve hot with Caramel Sauce.
Note: Frost cold leftover pudding with your favorite icing, and serve as cake another day.
