Steamed Apple Prune Pudding

Ingredients
  Soft butter/Margarine 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Packed light brown sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Molasses 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Eggs 4 , separated
  All purpose flour 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Baking soda 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Cloves 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Chopped uncooked prunes 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Tart apple 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped
  Citron 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs), diced
  Hard sauce 1 Tablespoon
Directions

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy; beat in molasses.
Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating after each addition.
Add sifted dry ingredients.
Stir in fruits.
Then fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Pack in greased 1 1/2 -quart pudding mold.
Cover and steam for 3 hours, or until done.
Serve warm with hard sauce.
