|Apple wine/Apple juice||2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)|
|Confectioners sugar||1 Tablespoon|
Peel and core the apples and cut into slices.
Sprinkle with lemon juice to prevent discoloration, then sprinkle with the sugar and cinnamon.
Toast the bread slices in a moderate oven (350° F) for 10-12 minutes, until they are lightly browned and very dry.
Rub through a coarse strainer or grind in a blender.
Add enough apple wine to the crumbs to moisten them thoroughly.
Put half the bread mixture in a greased baking dish.
Spoon over the apple slices and sprinkle with the raisins.
Cover with the remaining bread mixture.
Bake in a moderately hot oven (375° F) for 45 minutes.
Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar and serve warm with cream.
